We set out to build the character of our youngsters by providing Guidance and Encouragement, while reinforcing positive values and wholesome interest. Our mentors model this behavior as well as being responsible, having high integrity, exhibiting manners and respect for self, others and authority. Mentors will also exhibit determination and a dogged commitment toward this program, taking a personal interest in each child we serve, now and into the future. We emphasize and make the young people we serve aware of the power of their choices and consider the consequences of their actions. We empower them by helping each of them to imaginatively think of positive options and alternatives to solving problems.
Our network of churches, businesses, schools and other not for profit organizations in the community serves as a safety net that provide direction, set high expectations, employment opportunities, educational attainment and community service engagements. VOTF is committed to the spirit of collaboration, which motivates us to get out in the community and join forces with other organizations to create opportunities and make a difference for our youth, their families and the community as a whole.

The Visionary Academy program is proud to have credentialed teachers, college and high school students serving as tutors. Our staff is hard-working, dedicated and well trained. We provide one on one tutoring as well as tutoring teams that work with small groups. We create a safe and engaging environment allowing our young people to test their capabilities and learn from their successes and failures. In the Visionary Academy program, our students are encouraged to ask questions, solve problems, communicate and work in teams. Our program WILL produce improved outcomes academically, socially and emotionally for the young people we serve. Through positive reinforcement, encouragement, feedback and praise, we seek to nurture an increased enthusiasm toward learning. We make learning Fun and Rewarding!
The Visionary Academy program will lead to improved academic outcomes measured by: 1) Academic Grades 2) Reading Proficiency 3) Attendance and 4) Standardized Test Scores. However, The benefits don't stop there! You will also see an increase in Student Motivation, Attendance, Self-Perception and the overall Improved Self-Confidence that comes from developing Skills and Independence. We set clear and measurable goals and our sessions are filled with learning activities and teaching opportunities. This is how we will Train the Minds and Hands of Tomorrow, Today.
